The figures shown on this page are based on aggregated Muval enquiry, quote and confirmed booking data, generally covering the period from June 2023 to June 2026. For city pages, the data may be split between moves to that city and moves from that city. For route pages, the data is specific to that direction — for example, Sydney to Melbourne is treated separately from Melbourne to Sydney.

What the metrics mean

Average move price is the mean price paid across confirmed Muval bookings for this page or route.

Median move price is the middle confirmed booking price. This is often a better guide to a “typical” move because it is less affected by unusually large or expensive moves.

Average price per cubic metre is calculated by dividing the average booked move price by the average move size. This helps compare pricing across different home sizes.

Median price per cubic metre is calculated for each booking as price divided by cubic metres, then we take the median across those bookings.

Average move size is the average cubic-metre volume recorded for confirmed bookings.

Average quotes per move is the average number of removalist quotes customers received for this route or page.

Competition score is a 0–100 score showing how competitive this route is based on quote volume. A score of 50 is around the Muval network median, while 100 means the route is among the most competitive in the network.

Route demand is a 0–100 score based on enquiry volume. A higher score means more customers are searching for this route compared with other interstate pages.

Typical savings are calculated from confirmed bookings where the customer received two or more quotes and paid less than the average quote they received. We calculate the dollar and percentage difference for each eligible booking, remove extreme outliers, then average the result.

Busiest on-peak and off-peak months show the month with the highest enquiry volume during peak season, generally October to February, and off-peak season, generally March to September.

Median lead time, enquiry to move is the typical number of days between a customer submitting an enquiry and their requested move date.

Median lead time, booking to move is the typical number of days between a customer confirming a removalist and their move date.

Average transport timeframe or typical transit time is based on the average pickup-to-delivery timeframe from confirmed bookings where delivery dates were recorded.
