Local moves are billed per half hour: you pay a rate per 30 minutes for the crew and truck, with the first two hours collected up-front as a deposit and the remainder settled once the job is done.

The figures shown on this page are based on aggregated Muval enquiry, quote and completed booking data, generally covering the period from June 2023 onwards. Time-on-the-job figures come from actual completed moves, recorded by the crew after the job is finished. Typical total is the median actual cost of completed moves — the crew's full billed time at their half-hour rate, not just the two-hour deposit.

2-hour deposit is the typical up-front cost to secure a crew, based on the median half-hour rate (four 30-minute units). Muval collects the first two hours as a deposit when you book.

If you cancel within 48 hours of your booking (if your move is more than 5 days away) or give three weeks’ notice before your pick up date, you will get a full refund of your deposit.

If you change your list of items or space required a week before your move, we can usually adjust the price accordingly. In some circumstances this won’t be possible depending on the booking volume and amount of change and notice provided.

When looking at your kitchen, the industry standard is one book carton to each cupboard door.

If you need to change the delivery or pick up date, please advise the removalist as early as possible. They can sometimes accommodate changes and reschedule but this has a few variables.

Dismantling and assembling the furniture are not included in our standard pricing but can easily be added to your moving service, just ask.

The best way to ensure a successful move day is to be prepared. One way to do this is to notify your removalist about any very heavy or awkward-to-move items before move day. It can never hurt to double-check with them that they understand that you have these items, even if you have also submitted an inventory list. These sorts of items include:
